Hoover City Hall Renovations
The Hoover City Hall Renovations project involved the renovation of the 3rd floor and the enclosure of part of an adjacent outdoor plaza, totaling 14,108 square feet. This $2.7 million project included a functionality assessment, space planning, energy efficiency improvements, modernization of HVAC systems, technology upgrades, and finish enhancements.
Aho Architects has been awarded 11 projects and studies by The City of Hoover.
Key Features
New Multipurpose Community Space: Enclosed a portion of the 3rd-floor plaza to create a versatile area for community use, Council chamber overflow seating, staff training, and meetings.
Council Chambers Renovation: Updated with a new dais, seating, podiums, and modified flooring for full accessibility.
Technology Upgrades: Installed a new video wall, side wall monitors, and audio/video equipment to record and broadcast live, both online and to the multipurpose room.
Lobby Improvements: Enclosed a large opening to the floor below to create more gathering space and enhance safety.
Entrance Enhancements: Enlarged vestibules to City Hall and Council chambers with new entrance doors to better separate the exterior from the interior and provide a security barrier.
Safety and Security: Various safety and security improvements throughout the building.
New Furniture: Coordinated new furniture for public spaces, conference rooms, and staff areas.
ADA Compliance: Upgraded restrooms to meet current ADA standards.
Interesting Fact
In an earlier, separate project, Aho Architects designed and oversaw a complete re-roofing of the building, resolving several longstanding issues related to detailing and HVAC equipment enclosure.
