New Board Office and Shop Complex for the Alabaster Water Board
This project consolidates administrative and field-service functions into a 35,808 square-foot complex on a previously undeveloped site. The new buildings include:
Administration and shop facility (18,402 square feet)
Vehicle storage building
Equipment storage building
Vehicle wash bays
Covered materials and pipe storage buildings
Administration Building Features
The administration building offers:
Public lobby and customer service area
Drive-up window
Training room for 100 people
Board conference room
Open and private offices
Emergency sleeping quarters for on-call crew
Locker rooms, break rooms, and storage
6-bay shop space
Parts of the facility are hardened to provide a "safe-space" for occupants during severe weather. The complex also includes advanced emergency operations and communication features to ensure functionality during disasters or disruptions.
Site Improvements
The site includes approximately 110 public parking spaces and a gated access to a fenced compound with drives, lots, and yards for vehicles and equipment. Significant planning was required to efficiently manage site vehicular circulation, differentiating between public, drive-through, staff, delivery, and work vehicle/equipment flows.
